Educational institutions are in need and quality education has become as important as the daily food for the people. A new university called Universal University of Science; Engineering & Technology (UUSET) has been initiated and is to be opened soon in Somalia. It will be a center of high-quality education for the parents who are looking for excellent education for their children. The institution plans to achieve its goals towards the establishment of high standard quality education from post secondary to the university level in sciences, engineering and technology and starting with foundation courses for the post secondary students entering to the university.

The experts of this institution have conducted a comprehensive technical survey to assess the overall current education system. The result concludes that real institution of higher learning (IHL) level is needed in the country. Certain key critical areas have been identified including the engineering and science courses. The other important area related to quality of HIS is feeding system which comes from the secondary schools. Our basic secondary education used to cover (4+4+4 = 12) years in secondary education. The students completed this system were eligible for the university with foundation course except the languages. The current students require taking foundation courses and after finishing one year foundation courses they only can sit for the university examination in the universities level.

According to the findings, the most needed areas of education are the sciences. The UUSET main courses are among others: English languages, pure & life Sciences, allied health sciences, engineering, economics & management computer science & information systems (CSIS), business & public administration disciplines, housing & property development. Therefore, UUSET will concentrate its efforts to these university level faculties, their programs and courses with strong foundation courses in English language, physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and technology as improvement courses. These courses have been benchmarked some of the top universities in the world.

In Somalia, private education institutions are increasingly finding good place to open up for the Somalia new generation but as a matter of fact, a high-quality education has yet to start in Somalia because of many known reasons. Naturally, Somali people are bright people when it comes to education, but they need to get a conducive environment and quality education in order for the students to perform better. Education experts have decided to setup this type of high-quality educational institution in Somalia, which carries the responsibility of educating the young citizens in this country and those who choose to send their children to Somalia from overseas. The institution will also give the opportunity to those seek education to the overseas educational institutions.

Laboratory facilities and equipment are needed for all Science, Engineering & technology and ICT courses. Laboratory equipment will be provided in phases as the university goes on. Accordingly, the labs equipment and lab facilities are proposed in those courses/disciplines which are needed practical aspects such as Sciences and Engineering programs in the faculties of Sciences and Engineering. Lab facilities are required the courses such as Biology, Chemistry and Physics., Electrical engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing engineering, Civil and Petroleum and Chemical engineering, ICT lab. Facilities are also needed to set up to give the students the required facilities based on their fields of studies.
